Coogan Cowboy Hat style is the COOGAN, worn by Clint Eastwood in 1968s, Coogan's Bluff With the world being scared into sheltering in place over the month of April 2020 we thought we would give our clients and friends a distraction to help the time go by. A contest to engage the imagination and powers of deduction, along with our love of movies.

WE HAVE A WINNER! Well, we have been suitably humbled...this contest was posted at 1:42 April 4 2020 and in just 17 minutes(!) Ben Ellis posted the winning answer. Our mystery hat was the hat style worn by Clint Eastwood as Walt Coogan, in 1968s Coogan's Bluff. Thanks to everyone that played along and stay healthy!

We are showing one version in a new color for us, BUCKSKIN, a nice, warm earth tone. The other is in our brilliant bone color, the same as the movie hat.

Quirt Western Movie Hat

Our version of the Quirt Western Movie Hat has a classic telescope crown, with a kettle curled and hand rolled and bound edge brim. For our money, 1947s Angel and the Badman, is one of the top 20 western movies ever made. And this classic western film has one of the great western character names in the history of western film, Quirt Evans. The Quirt Movie Hat style is also a similar version to the one worn by Will Smith as James West in the wacky 1999 western, the Wild Wild West - the brim is just rolled a little differently. We'll fashion it either way for you, just request the James West version in the production notes section of the order.

Our take on the Woodrow Dolarhyde Movie Hat - the Harrison Ford cowboy hat from Cowboys and Aliens hand made by the last best west For most of Cowboy and Aliens, Woodrow Dolarhyde wears a Pecan colored hat, but at the end of the film, he can be seen wearing a gray (our granite color) one. This modified 3 pinch cavalry crown is a cousin of our traditional 1890s cavalry hat and has a bound edge with a gentle hand roll. It is also similar to our Top Hand hat.

Cowboys and Aliens Jake Lonergan Hat

Cowboys and Aliens Jake Lonergan Hat This is a modified crown treatment of a cavalry style, with the edges exaggerated. This movie is based on eyewitness accounts of cowboys taking pot shots at massive birds in 1890s Arizona. When the cowboys' shot at them, they apparently heard the bullets bounce off, the "leather like skin". The action starts right away in Cowboys and Aliens, when we see how Jake gets his hat. This is our version of the movie hat.
