Officer's Civil War Hat - Louis Kossuth was an immigrant from Hungary and in 1852 he introduced the "Slouch Hat" style to America. Over the next decade the term came to signify almost all soft creased hats with medium or wider brims. Even a medium brim was an improvement over the European styled Kepis and Forage caps of the day.
