  • Alaska Territory U.S. Marshal Badge - In 1884, law in the rugged Alaska Territory was upheld by Federal Marshals under a U.S. District Judge. At the start of the Nome gold rush there was only one Marshal and ten Deputies. In 1897, Deputy Marshals William C. Watt and James Mark Rowan were the first to be killed in the line of duty.
