Indian Police Badge
Indian Police Badge – U.S. Indian Police: Every reservation had its own Indian police force which was empowered by the federal government.
In 1880 a unit of Indian police was organized to operate throughout the Five Civilized Nations. This new unit was called United States Indian Police (U.S.I.P.). Their duty was to uphold Federal Law. The Indian Police were often deputized by US Marshals to assist in pursuit of non-tribal criminals. This type of badge was worn by Red Tomahawk, Police Sergeant, the man who killed Sitting Bull in 1890.
Our Old West replica badges are crafted out of steel and brass. We double-stamp them and then they are silver plated. Finally each Old West badge is hand finished for that worn, antique look. Heavy safety pin closure on the back of each badge.
