Classic Old West Coat – The Teddy
Our classic suede old west coat – the Teddy is a variation of our popular Yellowstone design.
Named after Americas 26th President, Teddy Roosevelt, regarded by many as one of the US great Presidents. And who once called the 50 miles trip from Cody Wyoming to the East access to Yellowstone, “The most beautiful 50 miles in America.”
Teddy would have been right at home in this jacket in 1885 or 2025.
Teddy Roosevelt was a hands on type of guy and he designed the uniform and hat for the original 1st Volunteer Cavalry – the Rough Riders from 1898. Not to mention recruiting and organizing the regiment.
The Rough Rider name was likely out of respect for Buffalo Bill Cody, who Teddy knew and liked. It was during those years that Buffalo Bill was touring the world with his “Congress of Rough Riders.”

In September of 1901 Vice-President Theodore Roosevelt unexpectedly became the 26th president of the United States, after the assassination of William McKinley. At just 43 years of age, President Roosevelt brought energy and lots of ideas to the White House. He won a second term in 1904.
In 1903 the first “Teddy Bear” went on sale. Named after Teddy Roosevelt and inspired by an actual incident where the President refused to shoot a black bear tied to a tree.
All his life Teddy was a committed conservationist, setting aside some 200 million acres for national forests, reserves and wildlife refuges during his presidency. After his second term Roosevelt spearheaded the beginning of construction on the Panama Canal.
