Our leather cuffs are used for protecting your shirts, wrists and lower arms when working with cattle. When worn with a good pair of leather gloves, our cuffs perfectly protect a cowboys hands and wrists from rope burn. These stiff cuffs act as a brace, preventing wrist sprains.
Our Cuff has studs and a basket weave design, in a saddle tan color, and is also tied at the back with lace and a snap.
A History of Leather Cuffs
Leather cuffs started appearing in pictures and catalogs in the late 1800s. Old-style cuffs were tied around the wrist with laces and were used to protect the cowboy’s clothing and to also protect their arms from a kicking hoof. Cuffs became not only a traditional cowboy accessory, but a sort of fashion statement. Leather wrist cuffs became more flashy as the years went on, with carvings or spots being added. And they are loved by rodeo riders as they add “flash” when they are out in the arena.
