This is our take on the Drake the Ripper Hat - The hat worn by actor Jerome Flynn as Victorian Detective Sergeant, Bennet Drake, in the BBC drama, Ripper Street. Our take on the Virgil Cole Movie Hat - from Appaloosa {2008} Our Virgil Cole Hat is the cowboy hat worn by Ed Harris in 2008s excellent Western Film, Appaloosa. This is also the hat with only minor changes (a front pinch to the crown and a bit more roll to the brim) that Mr. Harris wears as The Man in Black, in HBOs new western hit, Westworld. It's almost like the character is patterned after a mean and vicious Virgil Cole. If you would like The Man in Black version, add the request to the PRODUCTION NOTES. The style is a an adjusted version of a basic Boss of the Plains style cowboy hat. Add a homburg dent to the crown and give a nice dip to the front of the brim and there she be. Pretty close to a Fort Bragg version of the US Cavalry Hat from the 1870s.

Cowboys and Aliens Jake Lonergan Hat This is a modified crown treatment of a cavalry style, with the edges exaggerated. This movie is based on eyewitness accounts of cowboys taking pot shots at massive birds in 1890s Arizona. When the cowboys' shot at them, they apparently heard the bullets bounce off, the "leather like skin". The action starts right away in Cowboys and Aliens, when we see how Jake gets his hat. This is our version of the movie hat.

Our version of the Dylan Custom Town Hat - A 21st century updated version of his classic Rolling Thunder hat from the 1960s. Custer Civil War Cowboy Hat - George Custer was as flamboyant an old west personality as any of his generation, and was anything but camera shy. Many pictures exist of Custer and this one was taken at the end of the Civil War {1866} when Custer still held his battle rank of Major General. We were proud to make a Custer for legendary guitarist, James Thornbury, formerly of Canned Heat.

Hays Cooper Cowboy Hat - Our take on the Hays Cooper hat worn by Chuck Norris in Walker, Texas Ranger. In 1993 Chuck Norris took on the role of Walker, Texas Ranger and over the next 9 years it was one of the most popular shows on TV. During the 6th season an old west Texas Ranger character was developed over a couple of hours of a double episode. This was the hat style Hays Cooper wore.

John Elder Movie Hat - John Elder isn't very popular around town. He starts asking questions about how his mother lost the family ranch, in The Sons of Katie Elder. This is one of those formula westerns from the 1960s. Dean Martin, Earl Holliman, and Michael Anderson Jr. play 3 of the brothers. All three come home for their mother's funeral. Its not long before they start hearing whispers about their father being murdered and their mother cheated out of the family ranch.

Bullock western hat - The Timothy Olyphant hat from HBOs Deadwood Our take on the Bullock hat is a millenary design known as the Dakota in the late 1800’s and was popular with the more affluent in the Old West. Made famous again in HBO’S raw western, Deadwood, it was the hat worn by Sheriff Bullock, portrayed by Timothy Olyphant. The Dakota was one of the six hat styles we started our old west hat catalog with back in 2003. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Bonanza (1959 - 1972) debuting on TV, this is our take on the magnificently simple hat worn by Dan Blocker as Hoss. Big Guys like big hats. And Dan Blocker was a big man right from the start. Weighing 14 pounds at birth he grew to be a 6' 4" and 300 pound favorite on the iconic TV Western, Bonanza. And his Hoss Cowboy hat was the most authentic old west hat, any of the cast of Bonanza wore.
