Mink fur has 2 layers of fur protected by thick oil making it wonderfully waterproof. The thick under fur is protected by slightly longer guard hairs making the fur amazingly soft and luxurious. Mink coats and other clothing typically sell for 2000 dollars to 15,000 or even more. These mink hat bodies are some of the finest on the market and are relatively scarce in comparison to beaver hat bodies. As a result they are highly sought after and sell out quickly. Mrs. Boss Cowboy hat in Pure beaver belly. We've modified one of the hat styles worn by Nicole Kidman, as Lady Sarah Ashley, or Mrs. Boss in the epic film Australia, to give it more of an outback flair. Ours has a wider brim with a drover style to it. Shown in 100% natural color Belly Beaver fur felt. Originally the term "silver belly" referred to the belly fur of the beaver. By the mid 20th century it came to only identify a specific color. Belly Beaver Fur Felt is the thickest and densest of the beaver hat bodies. Virtually waterproof, it consists of 100% belly beaver fur blended with felt to produce a strong hat body very soft to the hand.

Our take on the Randall Bragg Movie Hat - from Appaloosa {2008} Jeremy Irons crafts an intriguing Randall Bragg, a well dressed, well-connected, sophisticated Cattle Baron who gets what he wants, when he wants it. Appaloosa is such a good story, with all the actors doing a fine job of moving the story along. Our Randall Bragg Movie Cowboy Hat has a telescope crown, pencil rolled brim, and is then hand-shaped and rolled higher on the left. We have used 10 cut-out star conchos strung out along a piece of 1/2" inch of leather.

Our McElroy hat is a smaller brimmed variation of our Wasey and a cousin of our There Will Be Blood hat, this was the hat worn by Peter Fonda as Byron McElroy in the 2007 action filled remake of the western classic - 3: 10 to Yuma.

Our take on the Woodrow Dolarhyde Movie Hat - the Harrison Ford cowboy hat from Cowboys and Aliens hand made by the last best west For most of Cowboy and Aliens, Woodrow Dolarhyde wears a Pecan colored hat, but at the end of the film, he can be seen wearing a gray (our granite color) one. This modified 3 pinch cavalry crown is a cousin of our traditional 1890s cavalry hat and has a bound edge with a gentle hand roll. It is also similar to our Top Hand hat.

Virgil Cole Movie Hat

Our take on the Virgil Cole Movie Hat - from Appaloosa {2008} Our Virgil Cole Hat is the cowboy hat worn by Ed Harris in 2008s excellent Western Film, Appaloosa. This is also the hat with only minor changes (a front pinch to the crown and a bit more roll to the brim) that Mr. Harris wears as The Man in Black, in HBOs new western hit, Westworld. It's almost like the character is patterned after a mean and vicious Virgil Cole. If you would like The Man in Black version, add the request to the PRODUCTION NOTES. The style is a an adjusted version of a basic Boss of the Plains style cowboy hat. Add a homburg dent to the crown and give a nice dip to the front of the brim and there she be. Pretty close to a Fort Bragg version of the US Cavalry Hat from the 1870s.

Cowboys and Aliens Jake Lonergan Hat This is a modified crown treatment of a cavalry style, with the edges exaggerated. This movie is based on eyewitness accounts of cowboys taking pot shots at massive birds in 1890s Arizona. When the cowboys' shot at them, they apparently heard the bullets bounce off, the "leather like skin". The action starts right away in Cowboys and Aliens, when we see how Jake gets his hat. This is our version of the movie hat.

Our version of the Samuel Jones Movie Hat - from The Missing The Samuel Jones Hat is the one worn by Tommy Lee Jones, as Samuel Jones, a white man turned Apache, who returns to his estranged daughter in time to try and rescue his grand-daughter from slave traders. Like the character there is nothing fancy about this hat, a simple open crowned cowboy hat with a bit of a pencil roll.
