Classic buckskin and leather jackets and coats from the last best west

Working with a factory we have designed our leather coats and jackets to be functional and true to the pioneer days. Our classic designs are timeless and will look good with clothes from 2024 or circa 1883.

Most of our coats are named in remembrance of the early days of North America. For people and frontiersmen and events that helped shape Democracy in North America. And the late 18th through the 19th century are full of firsts.

Don’t follow the herd – strike out on your own wearing some clothing history from The Last Best West!

Note About Sizing

Be sure to read the fit guidelines on all the coats for information for that specific garment. If you want a relaxed or loose fit go a size.

    The coat has a stand up collar, fringe and a tie and concho closure. Elegant in its simplicity, the Boone suede coat is a true frontier, mountain man look circa the Revolutionary War, and any time after. Fringe on leather clothing is a functional design feature pioneered by native Americans, hundreds of years ago. Its job is to channel off moisture, allowing the garment to dry faster.     Our Boone Suede Coat and Pants are unlined and come in a soft suede leather. The coat has a stand up collar, fringe and a tie and concho closure. The pants come long, ready to be rolled up or hemmed if required. They also have a billet at the back of the pant to allow you to tighten or loosen the fit for comfort.

    Our Boone suede suit would be perfectly in character for any mountain man or frontiersman in the 18th, or 19th Century. Or even the 21st century. Shown here with our (optional) Desperado  and Texas Jack Vermillion Hats

Known as the “King of the Wild Frontier,” his adventures over his lifetime earned him American folk hero status. Two of our designs, Crockett and Tuscarora are frock coat length, at 34 inches. Today that length of coat is referred to as a car coat. But in reality it’s cowboy length.
