Since the Dawn of Cinema the Western has been the greatest ongoing saga in film history. The first true motion picture was a western (naturally!) made by Thomas Edison’s Company in 1903, called The Great Train Robbery.

augustus custom handmade hat style from the classic mini-series, Lonesome Dove (1989) Loveable old Ranger Augustus McCrae is the scalawag that keeps the Hat Creek Cattle Company loose and is a great counter balance to the salty Woodrow Call. This style of old west crown with it's 3 pinch cavalry creasing was first called the "Tom Mix" after the early movie star, and then became known as "The Gus" crease because of Lonesome Dove. This is a great look for both men and women!

Bullock western hat - The Timothy Olyphant hat from HBOs Deadwood Our take on the Bullock hat is a millenary design known as the Dakota in the late 1800’s and was popular with the more affluent in the Old West. Made famous again in HBO’S raw western, Deadwood, it was the hat worn by Sheriff Bullock, portrayed by Timothy Olyphant. The Dakota was one of the six hat styles we started our old west hat catalog with back in 2003. Eli McCullough Cowboy Hat - Our take on the hat style worn by Pierce Brosnan in AMC's The Son TV series. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Bonanza (1959 - 1972) debuting on TV, this is our take on the magnificently simple hat worn by Dan Blocker as Hoss. Big Guys like big hats. And Dan Blocker was a big man right from the start. Weighing 14 pounds at birth he grew to be a 6' 4" and 300 pound favorite on the iconic TV Western, Bonanza. And his Hoss Cowboy hat was the most authentic old west hat, any of the cast of Bonanza wore.

Our take on the Jess Harper Cowboy hat from the classic TV series, Laramie.
Robert Fuller was one of Hollywood's most handsome leading men in the 1950s and 60s, and he had a fine career playing cowboy heroes, including Jess Harper from Laramie. Our first hat was given to Mr. Fuller in 2017, as a gift from his fan club. More below

Rifleman TV Series Hat a hand-made classic hat by the last best west - our version of the hat from The Rifleman series {1958-1963} Chuck Connors' Lucas McCain hat Crown: Modified Cavalry Brim: Hand Rolled Open Hatband: Custom 1 1/4" Leather with conchos Color shown: Whiskey in 20X Beaver Fur-felt Chuck Connors was deadly with his big loop Winchester Model 1892 and filled the screen as Lucas McCain in the classic TV. western; The Rifleman. This is his hat. Only 12 men have played pro Basketball and Baseball. Chuck Connors was one of them. His long acting career began in 1952, and he never got a better role than that of rancher, and single father, Lucas McCain.
